Aim Background: We believe that it would be better to learn : Learning techniques through hands-on experience offers better opportunities, but itthis is difficult to find a good opportunity to do so. At this time. Currently,
there are no reports ofon neurosurgical procedure training using the goat in vivo goat brain . In this studymodel. Here, we report an attempt to provide neurosurgical our experience on such training using goat in vivo brain model, and evaluate the evaluation of thetraining method. Materials and Methods: Under general anesthesia, the surgeryNeurosurgery was performed foron a male goat in the prone position. A midline liner skin incision was made in the scalp, to expose the dura mater, and six burr holes were drilled, a craniectomy was performed, and the dura was incised in an arcuate fashion. We attempted the interhemispheric approachInterhemispheric and retrosigmoid approach.Results: It was confirmed that surgical approaches are achievable in this model. In these approach taken in this study,were attempted under a surgical microscope. Craniotomy was performed until the transverse and sigmoid sinuses were fully exposed.
Results: Using both the surgical approaches, we observed anatomical structures such as cranial nerves, and blood vessels, etc. were similar to those of humans. Moreover, goat brains were similar in and noted various similarities with respect to color and texture to humansbetween the goat and human brains.
Conclusion: Unlike a cadaver brain, in vivogoat brain model requires hemostasis and careful dissection, which provides theproviding surgeons a realistic experience of actual neurosurgery.
